Compare the2025 Mazda CX-70VS 2024 Lincoln Corsair

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the CX-70 are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Corsair doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the CX-70. But it costs extra on the Corsair.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the CX-70’s standard Hill Descent Control allows you to creep down safely. The Corsair doesn’t offer Hill Descent Control.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the CX-70 has standard Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Rear Cross Traffic Braking, systems which detect vehicles approaching from the sides and can automatically apply the brakes to prevent a collision. Rear Cross Traffic Braking costs extra on the Corsair.

Both the CX-70 and the Corsair have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Mazda vehicles are better in initial quality than Lincoln vehicles. With 5 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Mazda higher than Lincoln.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Mazda vehicles are more reliable than Lincoln vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Mazda above average in long-term dependability. With 13 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Lincoln is rated lower.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Mazda vehicles are more reliable than Lincoln vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Mazda 16 places higher in reliability than Lincoln.

The CX-70 has more powerful engines than the Corsair:

The CX-70’s standard fuel tank has 7.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the Corsair Grand Touring’s standard fuel tank (18.5 vs. 11.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The CX-70 Turbo S’ standard fuel tank has 3.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the Corsair’s standard fuel tank (19.6 vs. 16.2 gallons).

The CX-70 has a standard locking fuel door which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the Corsair. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

For better stopping power the CX-70’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Corsair:

The CX-70’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Corsair are solid, not vented.

For better traction, the CX-70 has larger standard tires than the Corsair (265/55R19 vs. 225/60R18). The CX-70 Premium’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Corsair (275/45R21 vs. 245/45R20).

The CX-70’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Corsair Premiere’s standard 60 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the CX-70 has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Corsair Premiere. The CX-70 Premium’s 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the Corsair.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the CX-70’s wheelbase is 16.1 inches longer than on the Corsair (122.8 inches vs. 106.7 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the CX-70 is 4.5 inches wider in the front and 3.8 inches wider in the rear than on the Corsair.

The CX-70 has 39.1 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Corsair (141.6 vs. 102.5).

The CX-70 has .2 inches more front headroom, .6 inches more front hip room, 2.1 inches more front shoulder room, .6 inches more rear headroom, .8 inches more rear legroom, 4.7 inches more rear hip room and 1.8 inches more rear shoulder room than the Corsair.

The CX-70 has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Corsair with its rear seat up (39.6 vs. 27.6 cubic feet). The CX-70 has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Corsair with its rear seat folded (75.3 vs. 57.6 cubic feet).

The CX-70’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Corsair’s (3500 vs. 2000 pounds). Maximum trailer towing in the Lincoln Corsair is only 3000 pounds. The CX-70 offers up to a 5000 lbs. towing capacity.

The engine in the CX-70 is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the Corsair. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because the accessory belts are in front.

The CX-70’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Corsair’s standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the CX-70 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Corsair doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

When the CX-70 Turbo S is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Corsair’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Mazda CX-70 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Corsair.

The CX-70 Premium Plus has a 115-volt a/c outlet in the cargo area, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Corsair doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
